How Not to Use Twitter

On my recent posts about Twitter I’ve gone through how to tweet links more effectively, improve the quality of your following and ways to effectively market your music. Well, here is a list of thing you don’t want to be doing.
- Don’t follow everyone that follows you. Instead drop them a thank you message for initiating the connection. If their posts interest you then that’s reason enough to follow them back.
- Don’t post vast amounts of irrelevant content. Instead, for those random posts, provide some value. “I’ve just finished eating” says nothing and interested nobody. Not even someone who loves sandwiches. It doesn’t mean anything to anyone and is a waste of time to post and for anyone to read. Everyone eats.
- Something like “I just had a great cooked breakfast at John’s café on London Road for £2.99 and they didn’t scrimp on the bacon or mushrooms! Wholly recommended” makes for a much more valuable post as it gives the reader information. If they are interested they have something to check out. Otherwise, you’ve just made a recommendation that someone will remember when they see the place next and are much more likely to be reminded of you and your statement when they do.
- Don’t tweet everything you do. Again for the above reasons it doesn’t have any importance to anybody else. If you feel it does have importance then do tweet it but, using the above notion, “Just parked at Twycross Zoo” just isn’t worth the time and effort.
And finally…
