How Can I Help?
I have been an active musician for the best part of 9 years now and along my path to seeking success with my music have looked into various different methods of marketing, both online and offline. One of these areas being SEO (search engine optimisation). Now, I’m working as a full-time search engine optimisation technician I have picked up many methods of promoting a website online successfully and am constantly developing and adapting my skills as the internet and music industry changes.
Just as I did with my 200+ clients, I applied the techniques I learned as an SEO technician to my own websites and achieved success with these. But I came to realise that getting people onto a website isn’t everything. That’s not to say SEO (search engine optimisation) is something I’d ignore – not by a long shot! It’s a very powerful tool and can give you a lot of edge over your competition – at no cost! But on it’s own it doesn’t quite complete the full picture.
As a musician, you probably won’t achieve real success by pulling in people looking for your services – you also need to go out and pull them in. And that’s where the marketing perspective comes in. So now, being as I am in wanting to know everything and dominate my area of expertise, I wade through the new ocean (well, new to me) that is the marketing industry.
So as I learn and progress in both internet promotion and marketing I hope to collate all of the important information that I come across from various sources, meetings and experiences and relay this to the typical, non-technical musician that may not know how or where to start promoting their music – online or offline. I hope to break this mass of information down into manageable chunks that any musician can follow and understand easily.
So, my aim with this marketing blog is to combine both SEO and marketing into manageable chunks and present tips, ideas and inspiration for anyone wanting to promote their music either online or offline and generally get one foot above the rest, set themselves apart from the average and achieve what they want to achieve musically.
Aimed at musicians, producers, artists, DJs, singers, promoters and those otherwise musically inclined, I hope this blog will help anyone else working within the music industry to make the most of their time and efforts when it comes to promoting and marketing music online.
